Movement and Colour, 1986

This series, from Martin Bannister's 1986 archive, is influenced by Australian artist Sidney Nolan’s The Garden. It explores a range of colours and movements designed to evoke emotions and a sense of place. Through shapes and vibrant hues, Bannister examines how colour can stir feelings and communicate meaning.

Laminated card on MDF, enhanced with oil paint, pastel, and ink, reflects a dynamic fusion of technique and material. At 30 x 38 cm, this series offers a glimpse into the evolution of Bannister’s practice, marking a significant progression in his use of technique and medium.
